Weekly Superintendent Update 9.25.26

Dear Sierra Unified Community,

I am excited to share some great news with our Sierra Unified community: the installation of the new HVAC system in our large gym is now complete! A few punch-list items remain, but this important phase of the project is nearing closeout.

This is an important milestone in our Measure U modernization project, and we are thrilled that our students, athletes, staff, and community members will now be able to experience the difference that air conditioning makes in our large gym.

The gym is not the only space benefiting from this work. The installation of new HVAC equipment in our cafeteria will also provide a more comfortable environment for students and staff throughout the school year. These improvements represent an important investment in our schools and in the experience we provide for our students and community.

While the HVAC installation in the large gym is complete, there are still additional renovations planned for the gym as we continue through the larger Measure U modernization project. We look forward to sharing those improvements with you as the project progresses.

We also want to recognize several incredible community partners who have helped make another exciting improvement possible. The Sierra Athletic Boosters, the Sierra Foundation, and Jeremiah Gilbert have matched district contributions to purchase a new sound system for the large gym. This new system will enhance athletic events, school activities, and community gatherings for years to come.

This is a wonderful example of what can happen when our community comes together to support our students.

Most importantly, we want to thank our community. None of this would be possible without your support of Measure U. Your investment in our schools is making a tangible difference in the places where our students learn, compete, gather, and build memories. We are grateful for the trust you placed in Sierra Unified and for your continued commitment to our students and our community.

And what better way to experience these improvements than at a Sierra Chieftain volleyball game?

Next Thursday, our volleyball team takes on Liberty High School in the large gym. We invite you to come out, support our students, and experience the difference that our new air conditioning and sound system will bring to the gym firsthand!

We also encourage our community to continue supporting the Sierra Foundation, which works throughout the year to provide additional opportunities and resources for our students and classrooms. The Foundation raises funds through two major fundraisers each year, and the next one is Polofest on October 3rd.

We invite you to purchase tickets, join us for a wonderful evening, and continue investing in the students and programs that make Sierra Unified such a special place. The support raised through events like Polofest helps make projects and opportunities like the new gym sound system possible.
