Dear Sierra Unified Community,

It has been another wonderful week across Sierra Unified, and I continue to be inspired by the pride, spirit, and generosity that make our mountain community so special.

First, congratulations to our girls for their first Donkey Basketball victory over the boys! The game was filled with laughter, school spirit, and a little friendly competition. Events like this remind us that our schools are not just places for learning, but places where memories are made, and our community comes together to celebrate our students.

We also had a fantastic celebration of Read Across America Day. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many community members who took time out of their day to come read to our students. Your presence reinforces the importance of literacy and shows our students that reading truly matters to our entire community. A special thank you goes to our librarian, Jessica Young, for coordinating this wonderful event and bringing together so many volunteers to support our students.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the upcoming Tollhouse Derby, the annual fundraiser for the Sierra Foundation. This is always a fun and meaningful event for our community. The best part is that all proceeds go directly back into our classrooms and toward student scholarships, supporting opportunities for Sierra students both now and in the future.

The Tollhouse Derby is a free community event, and the proceeds come from the meals served and the generosity of our sponsors. If you plan to attend, please register on the Eventbrite app, and if you are able, we encourage you to consider becoming a sponsor for the event. Your support makes a real difference for our students and schools.  We hope to see many of you there as we continue to celebrate and invest in the future of our students.
